Welcome to Portage Lakes Rowing
The Portage Lakes Rowing Association (PLRA) is the only organized sweep rowing club in the Akron / Canton Vicinity. We offer adult learn to row opportunities for people new to rowing and an amateur athletic program for competitive rowers who have experience with rowing.
Learn to Row Classes
Our Learn to Row classes for May are completely full. In order to provide all participants a good learning experience both at the class and after they join the club, we have decided not to add any additional classes this spring. However, we will be offering three Learn to Row classes on August 1-2, 3-4 and 8-9.
If you are interested in signing up for the August classes, go to the Learn to Row page to complete an application and for instructions for mailing it in. If you would prefer to wait until closer to August to sign up, please e-mail us via our Contact Us page and we will contact you a few weeks before the August classes or when they start to fill up.

In October 2008, PLRA unveiled the first ever Portage Lakes Calendar. It is a full color wall calendar showing off the beautiful scenery and activity of the Portage Lakes in the City of Green, the City of New Franklin and Coventry Township. The calendar also features the dates for twenty community events such as the Polar Bear Jump, Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt and Antique Boat Show. browse our site and learn more about our organization.
PLRA has been rowing on the Portage Lakes for four years and the calendar will not only serve as a fundraiser for the club, but it will also foster civic pride and showcase the Portage Lakes to those in the area who are not familiar with its beauty.
